Matthew (Matt) joined Bromberg, Kohler Maya & Petre in July of 2018. Prior to this position, he first began working in the immigration field as a legal assistant for an attorney handling asylum cases from Central America and East Africa. He later went on to work as a legal assistant for a criminal/immigration attorney helping immigrants with criminal records in Boston, Massachusetts. Now in Washington, D.C., in his free time he volunteers with the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition to provide translation services to immigrants held in detention.

Matt graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2018 with a dual bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Legal Studies, a minor in Spanish, and a certificate in International Relations. He spent a semester studying abroad at the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2017. His independent academic research includes immigration policy and politics in Argentina as well as judicial politics and the functioning of judiciaries in Latin America more generally. 

Matt is a native English speaker fluent in Spanish.
